Returns Policy.

We hope you will be delighted with your piece of Sarah Shanahan jewellery.

However, if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, Sarah is happy to adjust, exchange, or refund your order. *

If this is the case, please contact Sarah within 14 days of receipt of your delivery to arrange the return/exchange/adjustment, then make sure to ship the item back to us as soon as possible.

Items are returned at the buyer’s own risk, so we recommend that you use a Special Delivery service, and insure the shipment against loss or damage. Postage will only be refunded if an item has been sent incorrectly, or some other error has been made on our part. I cannot be held responsible for returns that are lost in transit and the cost of return delivery is your responsibility.

Orders must be returned in their original packaging, unworn and in perfect condition.

You must notify us of any damaged items within 48 hours.

Manufacturing faults do not include general wear and tear or customer damage – this includes:

Jewellery that has oxidised from being worn.

Plating wearing/rubbing off over time.

Rings that have been bent out of shape.

Chipped, cracked or broken gemstones.

Broken chains.

*Earrings and custom made items CANNOT BE RETURNED/EXCHANGED. Sarah is happy, however, to discuss any potential adjustments or alterations (at additional cost to the customer).

Frequently asked Questions.

What materials do you use?

The majority of pieces are made from  925 sterling silver and plated in 22k gold. Every effort is made to describe each item correctly, including any gemstones or other materials used, i.e glass.

Hallmarking

All pieces of Sarah Shanahan jewellery carry a hallmark from the Birmingham Assay Office in accordance with UK legislation. Some items are too lightweight to require hallmarking by the Assay office. These items are legally sold as silver or gold.

The hallmark consists of my unique makers’ mark and further marks identifying the metal, place and date of hallmarking.

Are the products pictured actual size?

Unfortunately it is not possible to have the pictures actual size as computer and phone screens vary in size. All work is entirely hand made and stated dimensions may vary slightly,

however we always try to put as much detail in the description as possible. If you have any queries please don't hesitate to get in touch via email.

An item I want is out of stock?

If you'd like to know more specific dates and details of when you might be able to buy a similar piece of jewellery, please email. Sarah@sarahshanahan.com

As the jewellery is all handmade, times may vary for an item to return to stock.

When will you have more work to buy?

As I only make my work in small batches I list a few new pieces every week. As I'm only able to make a limited amount of pieces they can  sell very quickly and I appreciate this can be frustrating so apologies, but they are hand made so I can only make so many!

What time zone are you in?

As I am based in the UK, all times that I mention will be UK times, you can google this if you are unsure of the time difference to yourself.

Jewellery care.

In general, jewelry can be washed gently with mild soap.

All of our gold plated jewellery is 925 sterling silver plated with 22 carat gold. All plated and oxidized jewelry may wear over time. In order to prolong the life of your jewellery, please avoid perfumes and cosmetics, showering and cleaning products. Also avoid wearing gold plated items in bed; bedsheets rubbing against them can wear down the surface.

Gemstones require special care. Avoid impact against hard surfaces and contact with perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals.

Are your gemstones looking a little dull and tired? You can bring back their sparkle by using a soft clean toothbrush, lukewarm water and a small amount of washing up liquid to remove any dirt. Regular cleaning will help to retain their glamour and shine.

Storing your jewellery properly is important too. To avoid damage, store your jewellery separate from each other to minimise scratching and tangling.

Do you undertake commissions?

Yes. I make commission objects and jewellery. Please email me with a rough idea of what you would like and any important dates. I will get back to you ASAP, to discuss initial design options, pricing and time frames.

This process takes between 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the intricacy of the item, sourcing materials, hallmarking etc.

Commission work starts from £250’s. After a discussion of initial design ideas, a non refundable deposit is required to cover the creation of the final design. This may involve artwork/designs and models. Throughout the entire process, I work closely with the customer, with updates and images of the piece's progress.

50% of the final price is required before production of the item, ( taking into account the initial design deposit ) towards materials and other process costs.

Full payment is required before the item is collected or shipped to the customer. Shipping costs are in addition to the cost of the item.

I am a jeweller/silversmith/artist and would like a hand carved wax for my work?

I produce hand carved wax patterns/masters ( for casting into metal or other mediums ) for other jewellers and silversmiths. I particularly specialise in animals and detailed, small artworks, but am happy to discuss any style of work.

Please email me with your enquiry, with as much detail of your requirements as possible - including end use where relevant.

I am happy to send images of my carving work, and will give an idea of prices and time frames. As for commission work, a non refundable deposit is required in order to cover some of the carving hours involved.
